1. Minn Kota continues to put inferior parts on their trolling motors

Posted by STEPHEN on May 13th 2025

Minn Kota does not have an effective Quality Assurance Program. This is evidenced by the fact that I had to replace this part. They did not protect the electronics. This is the same issue on the power switch that is one these motors. I replaced the same switch with the same defect on two motors produced 5 years apart. Even though Minn Kota has been aware of this for years. The backup of work at the Minn Kota warranty centers is a testament to the poor design quality of their motors. What good is a warranty if they cannot fix your motor within six weeks or longer? I can say that Trolling Motors is very responsive and quick with deliveries.

5. Better than original

My circuit board in the pedal shorted out, not knowing this was a problem for Minn Kota. Super pissed, as it locked up the pedal in the middle of a tournament. Awesome video on how to install, although, it takes a little more than the 30min it claims it takes. Probably took me closer to an hour and half to install. Lots of tight spaces to work with. But, still an easy DIY project.

Part fit perfect and looks to be sealed better than the original. It is an easy part replacement for the do it yourself guys. Took me about 35 minutes to change out the part. So far steering is working as it should on my ultrex. Instructions are easy to follow.
   Thanks Trolling motor parts.
