I fish river systems a lot and I recently banged pretty hard into a rock jetty with my 36v Ultrex. The skeg turned and it apparently broke the seals, causing water go go into the lower unit / armature. Black grease water was pouring out every time I raised the tm and it would spray all over my white boat. Looked like I murdered a squid. I knew MK would not warranty it out, and even if I tried it would take a month in the shop because all MK ASCs are super backed up. Ordered this kit, took lower unit apart (never done it before), dried everything out over a couple of days, cleaned the inside of lower unit, armature, etc. Put it all back together with new seals then took it out for water test. Worked perfectly! I got to it before any rust occurred and my Ultrex is now quiet and smooth again without squid ink spray going everywhere.
TIP: Make sure you lay out all the new O-rings before you discard the old ones because this kit contains multiple seals that you won't end up using. You'll need to match them up and replace them one at a time so you don't mess up. -
