This review is not against TMP but towards the company that built it. When I received my new board it is supposed to retro fit for my Cannon Mag 10HS. I followed the instructions to the T on wiring up the new board. When I tested my down rigger it operated backwards. Meaning when I went to raise the ball it would have low power like your lowering the ball. When lowering the ball it operated like it was raising the ball at full power. I reversed the purple and blue wires on the toggle and had the same results. I then reversed the positive and negative on the control board from the motor and then the downrigger operated like it always had before my control board went bad. I contacted TMP and reported my issue with the control board being backwards operating when wired like it’s supposed to be. TMP said I would have to report my issue to Cannon as TMP is just a parts supplier for Cannon. So I called Cannon and they said they don’t make a replacement control board for the Mag 10HS anymore. I went on to tell them that the new Magnum board from Cannon works in the older Mag 10’s. The rep at Cannon said they don’t and won’t support anyone replacing the Magnum board in the Mag 10 and that there’s no research from Cannon that will support using the Magnum board in a Mag 10. This is very frustrating to spend over $1000 at the time I bought my down riggers. I haven’t used mine a lot. But I have used them. I’ve always been a Cannon user. But now that Cannon says my riggers are obsolete and can’t be repaired for a simple control board is frustrating to say the least! I’ll keep using my Cannons until the motors give up. But after that I’ll never buy another Cannon product. I’ll switch over to Scotty. Here’s something to think about, the small block Chevy has been around for many yrs. To this day you can still go buy parts for those motors and their big blocks. Even though they are getting fazed out by the new LS motors. One can still rebuild a SBC to factory original. So my question is, why can’t Cannon do the same?? To keep making parts available for a proven and reliable downrigger?
